Germany: Hemp Meat Alternatives

“The project was called TASTINO, the name was put together from parts of the detailed project title: “SchniTzel, hemp tofu, PASTa & Co from the real hemp laboratory – protein-based foods from regional hemp cultivation”. Project partners are the Institute for Crop Science at the University of Hohenheim, which is responsible for the accompanying research, and Signature Products GmbH, based in Pforzheim, which is responsible for the development of food – especially meat substitute products such as schnitzel, tofu or Bolognese – made from hemp seeds. The project was made possible by the “Bioeconomy Innovation and Investment Program for Rural Areas” of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, from which around one million euros flow into the project, of which 365,000 euros go to the University of Hohenheim.”
